Tribute to Emma Davis Hamilton

The Georgia Genealogical Society (GGS) and the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR) are honored to share our tribute to Emma Davis Hamilton, December 26, 1947 – January 26, 2026. Please see the memorial video here or below

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Frazine K. Taylor Scholarship Fund in memory of Ms. Emma Davis Hamilton. Ms. Emma was deeply passionate about African American genealogy education and frequently served as a presenter for numerous local institutions and organizations. She was a devoted supporter of the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR) and served as an instructor for the African American genealogy course coordinated by the late Frazine K. Taylor. When the Taylor Scholarship was established, Ms. Emma worked tirelessly to help secure funding for its success. The scholarship covers tuition for the IGHR African American genealogy course, and continued support ensures ongoing educational opportunities for researchers seeking to expand their knowledge of African American genealogy. For details about the scholarship and on how to donate via PayPal, see:  https://ighr.gagensociety.org/scholarships/frazine-k-taylor/

Donations by check should be made payable to the Georgia Genealogical Society, with a memo noting IGHR Frazine K. Taylor Scholarship / Emma Hamilton.  Checks are to be mailed to the IGHR Scholarship Fund, c/o Georgia Genealogical Society, PO Box 550247, Atlanta, GA  30355-2747.
