Birdie Monk Holsclaw IGHR Scholarship

Birdie was a regular attendee and lecturer at the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR). Her passion for family history and genealogical education inspired everyone. We honor Birdie’s memory by offering this scholarship in her name to continue her mission in helping others to learn and grow as genealogists.

Timeline for the Scholarship

  • Donations for the scholarship are accepted year-round. See below.
  • The application deadline for the Birdie Monk Holsclaw scholarship is February 15th each year.
  • The recipient of the scholarship will be notified by email no later than March 1st in time for priority registration.
  • IGHR courses begin in July each year.

Apply for the scholarship by February 15th, including the following:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Email
  • Phone
  • How long you have been doing genealogy.
  • The IGHR course you plan on attending.
  • In 500 words or less, a description of how participation in this course will benefit you.
  • In 250 words or less, tell us about yourself.

  • Donations by check should be made payable to the Georgia Genealogical Society, with a memo noting IGHR and the name of the scholarship for which the payment is intended.
