Stuart Hirai is an independent researcher and has studied the Nisei/Nisei Soldiers since his retirement from the federal government. He has led small group study tours to the battle sites where the 100th Infantry Battalion and 442nd Regimental Combat Team fought in Italy, France, and Germany. Stu is an associate member of several historical and veteran organizations and has made many presentations at incarceration camp pilgrimages and World War II seminars about the Nisei Soldiers who served in the Pacific and Europe. His most recent contributions have been to co-write and write articles for the A&E/History Channel; serving as a consultant for the BBC-UK-Podcast, “Purple Heart Warriors;” and, is still working on a book about his Nisei mentors. He is currently a lecturer associated with Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Colorado State University where he lectures about the Nisei and Nisei Soldiers.
