IGHR 2026 Registration Dates:
Because IGHR now has a hybrid schedule — a week-long summer session and once-a-week sessions throughout the year — our registration schedule has also changed to ensure the maximum flexibility for our students.
IGHR 2026 registration will begin on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at noon ET for ALL COURSES. Each course’s registration period will end one month prior to the beginning of the course.
The first day of registration will begin at noon Eastern time out of consideration for our West Coast students.

Registration Quick Guide
- Join the Georgia Genealogical Society to gain the benefit of a GGS $50 discount code. (Membership can be had for as low as $40. You’ll receive a confirmation email with the code.)
- Already a GGS member? Look for your discount code in the Members Area on the GGS website.
- Watch the IGHR Registration Guide Video.
- Have your information ready ahead of time: billing information, credit card, discount codes, etc.
- Be sure to read the Tuition, Policies, and Deadlines and Terms and Conditions pages (pay attention to the cancellation policy).
- You do not need a user account to register for IGHR. Nor do you need to be logged into your account if you created one in previous years.
- Review the list of IGHR’s courses.
- Click on the green button for the course you are interested in.
- On the course page click on the green Register Here button.
- Prior to registration opening, this button will take you to a page with a countdown clock. You can enter your email address to receive a message to remind you when registration opens.
- Once registration starts, click on that green register button and the course registration window will open.
- Make sure you are on the correct registration form for the course you are interested in.
- Fill out the form as appropriate.
- Enter the email address at which you would like to receive IGHR related information.
- Be sure to supply the phone number you are most likely to have access to during the course.
- Under certificate name supply your name as you would like to have it shown on your digital certificate of course completion, including postnominals.
- Click the box to indicate you’ve read the Tuition, Policies, and Deadlines and Terms and Conditions.
- Click the radio button to choose your course, which will cause the “total” to read $545, and enter any discount code you might have. (This is where IGHR gift certificate codes will be entered.) Click “apply” and you should see the total change to the appropriate amount. Only one discount code may be used.
- Georgia Genealogical Society members enjoy a $50 discount.
- Become a member of GGS first before registering for IGHR.
- This year, GGS members will not have the discount code emailed to them. Instead, they can find the code by logging in to the Members Area of the GGS website. New or renewing members will find the code in their welcome email.
- Enter your billing information, then click the Submit button.
- Payments can be made with a credit card or via check post-marked within 5 business days. If you click “pay by check,” the screen will change to give you the mailing address.
- You will receive a confirmation email page and email. Print or save a copy for your records.
- If a course is sold out, the course page will display with ‘Join Waitlist’ in the Course ‘XX’ Registration tuition section. You may register for another course if you are on the waitlist. If a space opens up in the waitlisted course, you’ll be given the opportunity to transfer.
- You can create a user account after registration to make updates to your registration later (e.g. a change to your email address or phone number).
Registration Policies
Discount Codes
Only one discount code can be used per course.
Payment and Refund Deadlines
Prompt payment is expected for all purchases. Payments made by check must be postmarked by the fifth business day after your course registration or other purchase. Failure to send payment postmarked by the fifth business day for your course reservation will result in cancellation of your class seat. You will be contacted if your course registration was canceled due to nonpayment. If registration is open and a seat is available, you may register for the course again.
Cancellation Fee
The cancellation deadline to receive a refund for a course is three weeks prior to the beginning of the course. There will be no refunds for courses canceled by registrants after that time. Fees paid are not transferable.
Refunds for canceled courses will be assessed a $20 administrative fee. Cancellation of a course on the same day that you register for it incurs no fee.
Cancellation Procedure
To cancel a course, click/tap Registration Cancellation. Please enter your information in the form displayed. The IGHR Registration Coordinator will review and process your request. If the cancellation is made by the stated deadline, a refund (minus the $20 administrative fee for a canceled course) will be sent to you by check or credited to your debit/credit card account by the Georgia Genealogical Society treasurer.
Course Transfer
To request a course transfer, please click/tap Transfer Request to display the form. The IGHR Registration Coordinator will review and process your request. Transfer requests must be received by the day before registration for that course ends.
