Dunn, Victor S
Victor S. Dunn, CG, received his BS and MS in Accounting from Virginia Tech. He passed the CPA exam and worked in Washington D.C. for a National CPA firm and then in Northern Virginia for several high-tech firms until he retired in 2004.
Vic became certified by BCG in 1999 and began a career as a full-time researcher in 2004, focusing on Virginia and West Virginia families. He specializes in land records and platting and problem resolution. He has testified as an expert witness for estate court matters in Virginia and West Virginia. In 2014, he received the Mosher Award for Colonial Virginia Research and was named as verifying genealogist for the Order of First Families of Virginia.
A former governor of the Virginia Genealogical Society, Vic implemented the Virginia Business Records and Manuscript Index on the society’s website. He served as past treasurer of the National Genealogical Society and as a trustee for BCG. He has published several feature articles in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly and has contributed works to Magazine of Virginia Genealogy, NEHGS Register, OnBoard, National Genealogical Society Newsmagazine, The Genealogist, and Virginia Genealogical Society Newsletter. His lecturing venue includes national and local platforms.
