The Georgia Genealogical Society and IGHR have been working hard to bring back the “networking” element that helps make the Institute such a special learning experience. IGHR has partnered with the UGA Center for Continuing Education & Hotel to provide pre-paid meal plans that allow participants opportunities to meet new people, exchange ideas, and network among a vibrant peer group. These meals will be provided in the banquet/ballroom area within the conference center.

Information about breakfast opportunities through the on-site restaurants can be viewed at Dining Options at UGA's Hotel & Conference Center. There will be two 30 minute food and beverage breaks Monday through Thursday. Friday morning there will be one 15 minute refreshment break. The idea is to allow visiting and networking time among attendees.

The morning break will take place between 9:45 a.m.–10:15 a.m. and will consist of Chef’s choice of food including such options as fresh fruit, breakfast breads, and other specialty items that vary daily; brewed hot coffee, hot tea, bottled water, hot chocolate, juice and soft drinks.

The afternoon break will take place between 2:15 p.m.–2:45 p.m. and will consist of Chef’s choice of food including such options as fresh vegetables/dip, bakery selections, candy, snack mixes and other specialty items that vary daily; brewed hot coffee, hot tea, bottled water, hot chocolate, juice and soft drinks.

We encourage everyone to take advantage of pre-paid meal tickets. Dining at the conference center will be private so participants can visit with all course attendees and relax without competing with other groups. It will also save time, allowing you to get to the evening sessions onsite within the building without rushing through your meal or you may take advantage of the research opportunities at the UGA Main Library.

Information on additional dining options, including campus dining halls and restaurants in Athens, may be found under FAQs - Dining - What are my other dining options in Athens?

Details about 2019 meal plan tickets and how to request special diet meals will be provided soon.
