David McDonald, DMin, CG, is an instructor and course coordinator at various national genealogical institutes. He has taught in the Advanced Methodology and Government Documents tracks at IGHR. A trustee and past president of BCG, Dr. McDonald serves the Board as its secretary. He has served as a director of NGS, APG and ISBGFH. He lectures across the country, and internationally, on matters of religious records in genealogical research, transcontinental migration, research skills and advanced techniques and analysis. His geographic specialties include the old Northwest Territory, old and New England, and the Great Plains. Dave is a principal of the research firm Alcorn, Smith & Nason, LLC. He lives and practices near Madison, Wisconsin, where he also serves as an ordained Protestant minister.

Two IGHR scholarship application deadlines are fast approaching. The Jean Thomason Scholarship, due 1 December 2017, is open to anyone currently employed at a library, and the AncestryProGenealogists Scholarship, due 31 December 2017, will be awarded to a qualified applicant who demonstrates a commitment to genealogy as a profession.
