Course Five — Intermediate German Genealogy

Course Coordinator

F. Warren Bittner

Description

This course is targeted for students who have done a little German research, but are still challenged by it. A main goal of the class it to teach students to use the gazetteers and finding aids needed to identify places in Germany as this is a consistent challenge to German researchers. There will also be a full day spent teaching students to read Gothic German Script. Open to anyone interested in German research. Some previous German research experience is helpful, but not required.

Required textbooks, prerequisites, or other student information

There are no pre-requisites to attending the Intermediate German Research course. Students who have dabbled enough in German research to be confused by localities and challenged by the difficult handwriting will find this a good course to add to their research skill set.
