IGHR Scholarships

IGHR is proud to offer two scholarships for students

The Frazine K. Taylor African American Research Scholarship is open to professional librarians and archivists who help their patrons with African American research and to anyone committed to expanding their personal knowledge of African American genealogical research. The scholarship (application due 1 March each year) was established in 2018 by Deborah A. Abbott, PhD, in honor of Frazine K. Taylor upon her retirement as coordinator of the “Researching African American Ancestors” course at the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research. This scholarship for IGHR tuition is open to anyone interested in enrolling in the African American course at IGHR each year. Learn more about Frazine K. Taylor and the scholarship here.

The Birdie Monk Holsclaw IGHR Scholarship. Birdie was a regular attendee and lecturer at the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR). Her passion for family history and genealogical education inspired everyone. We honor Birdie’s memory by offering this scholarship in her name to continue her mission in helping others to learn and grow as genealogists.
