Payment and Refund Deadlines

Prompt payment is expected for all purchases. Payments made by check must be postmarked by the fifth business day after your course registration or other purchase. Failure to send payment postmarked by the fifth business day for your course reservation may result in cancellation of your classroom seat. You will be contacted if your course registration was cancelled due to nonpayment; you may register for the course again.

The cancellation deadline to receive a refund for a course or meal ticket cancelled by you is 30 June 2019 for the July 2019 institute. There will be no refunds for courses or meal tickets cancelled by registrants after 30 June 2019, for IGHR 2019. The IGHR course and meal ticket refund deadline is set each year based on the cut-off date given to us by the venue for submitting the number of expected participants and purchased meals. The Georgia Genealogical Society is contractually obligated to pay for the numbers we submit on the designated date regardless of changes in attendance. Printed syllabus and evening session cancellations to be announced.

Attendees may wish to purchase travelers insurance to avoid loss of tuition after 30 June 2019. Be sure the insurance you purchase will cover the cost of tuition, meal tickets, as well as other travel expenses you may not be able to recover.

Fees

Refunds for cancelled courses will be assessed a $25 administrative fee, which covers the costs incurred in taking your reservation. Cancellation of a course on the same day that you register for it incurs no fee. Refunds for cancellations made by the deadlines stated above for meal tickets, printed syllabi, and evening sessions incur no fees.

Cancellation Procedure

To cancel a course or other purchases made on the IGHR website, you must first log in to your account. Click User Options and choose Registration History in the drop-down menu. Click on the course or other purchase you wish to cancel, then click the Cancel button at the top of the new screen. This action will automatically notify the IGHR Registration Chair. If the cancellation is made by the stated deadlines, a refund (minus the $25 administrative fee for a cancelled course) will be sent to you by check or credited to your PayPal/credit card account by the Georgia Genealogical Society treasurer.
